Originally created in 1971 as a synthesizer creator, E-mu has been a leader in samplers, sampIe-based drum devices and low-cost digital sampling music workstations.Since its acquisition in 1993, E-mu Techniques has been a wholly owned part of Creative Technology, Ltd.
E-Mu had been last based in Scotts Valley, Ca, on the outskirts of Silicon Area. Unofficially created in 1970 by Scott Wedge and Dave Róssum, E-mu started making modular synthesizers. In 1993, E-mu had been obtained by Innovative Technologies (the Singaporean parent business of Innovative Labs) and started functioning on Personal computer soundcard synthesis. Creative Influx Blaster II and Sound Blaster Amazement32 utilized EMU8000 effect processor. Throughout the 1990s, E-mu produced many different sound segments along the lines of the Proteus series. E-mu also made unsuccessful attempts at splitting into the digital multitrack récorder with the Dárwin hard-disk recording system. In 1998, E-mu was combined with Ensoniq, anothér synthesizer and sampIer producer previously acquired by Creative Technologies.
